College Kicks 2009

College Kicks, held last Thursday at Seattle University, was a huge success! We had great weather and the kids had a blast playing soccer games and running drills with the SU players. The players also participated in a question and answer session, where our poet-athletes learned about what it takes to get to college, and what college life is like.

Dunlap poet-athletes huddle with SU players before starting a warm-up at College Kicks.

The Q&A session was a highlight for many.

SU players help lead everyone in the SCORES cheer at the end of the day.

A big thanks to our volunteers, who helped the event run smoothly!

Our second Happy Hour with the Seattle Sounders FC was a huge success! Fans packed Kell's Irish Pub in Post Alley for a prize drawing, Q&A with players and staff, and a silent auction of an autographed jersey. We raised more than $2,000 for our poet-athletes!

Seattle Sounders in the NY Times

The New York Times featured this great article about the Sounders FC--Seattle's first-year MLS expansion team. America SCORES Seattle is proud to be one of four community partners with the Sounders and we had a great Happy Hour fundraising event at Kell's Irish Restaurant & Pub on 3/31.
